Lucas County Health Center (LCHC) is proud to announce that our Volunteer Services program has been awarded the prestigious 2023 Best in the State award from the Iowa Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) and Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP). This recognition highlights the outstanding efforts of our dedicated team of counselors—Steve Bright, Linda Jurgens, and Mike Miller—who have worked tirelessly to educate 93.8% of clients on Medicare fraud, errors, and abuse.
This award is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our volunteers, who play a vital role in empowering our community with knowledge and resources to navigate the complexities of Medicare. With the upcoming Medicare Re-Enrollment period, this is an excellent opportunity for individuals to review their options and ensure they are adequately protected against potential fraud.
Kristine Kennedy, Volunteer Services Manager at LCHC, stated, “Our SHIIP-SMP program is essential to our community. By providing free education and support, we help individuals make informed decisions about their Medicare options. This award reflects the dedication of our volunteers and their passion for serving our community.”
We encourage members of the community to take advantage of this service by scheduling an appointment. Our knowledgeable SHIIP-SMP Counselors are ready to provide guidance and support during this critical time.
