About
Dr. Zach Johnson brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to his role as a Family Medicine physician at Lucas County Health Center. He began his academic journey with an Associate of Arts from Southwestern Iowa Community College in Creston, Iowa. He then pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Biology at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, where he developed a strong foundation in the biological sciences. His passion for medicine led him to Ross University School of Medicine in Saint Michael, Barbados, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree and honed his clinical skills.
Following medical school, Dr. Johnson completed a comprehensive residency in Family Medicine at MercyOne in Des Moines, Iowa. This rigorous training equipped him with extensive hands-on experience in a variety of patient care scenarios and a thorough understanding of family medicine. Dr. Johnson is also certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Dr. Johnson’s connection to Lucas County Health Center is longstanding. Early in his career, he worked in our Emergency Room as an EMT, where he gained valuable firsthand experience in emergency medical care. This early exposure to patient care at Lucas County Health Center significantly shaped his medical career and commitment to serving rural communities.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Johnson enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Ana, and their two dogs. They love going on walks together, exploring new places through their travels, and enjoying movie nights. Dr. Johnson also has a passion for video games, which he shares with his wife, making it a fun and relaxing way for them to unwind.
