Emergency Department: Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Medical emergencies can happen at any time. At LCHC, our Emergency Department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, providing emergency care when you need it most.

Our team of emergency nurses, physicians, and EMS professionals is equipped to respond to a wide range of medical emergencies. With access to on-site radiology and laboratory services, we can quickly evaluate patients and help determine the appropriate care and treatment.

Emergency Services & Patient Transfers

LCHC operates three ambulances that are available around the clock to respond to 911 calls and emergencies throughout the area. Our EMS team works alongside Emergency Department staff to provide care in the hospital and throughout the community.

When patients need specialized services or a higher level of care, LCHC coordinates transfers to larger medical facilities in Des Moines, Iowa City, or other appropriate locations. For patients who need a higher level of care, LCHC has an on-site landing area for medical helicopters, including LifeFlight and MercyOne. Depending on the patient’s needs, transfers may be arranged by air or ground ambulance.
