Through our “Share Care” model, Lucas County Health Center is proud to partner with MercyOne and UnityPoint Health – Des Moines to provide pregnancy care close to home. But what does that mean and how does it work?

What is Share Care?

The “Share Care” model means that women who are pregnant can receive their prenatal care with Sharon Squibb, our Certified Nurse Midwife, right here at LCHC Medical Clinic. This care encompasses the same aspects of prenatal care as a larger facility, including ultrasounds, labwork, and education. Sharon can see you as early as your first positive pregnancy test to help ensure that your pregnancy gets off to the best start. With more than 23 years of experience, she takes the time to make sure that your pregnancy is well cared for.

You will be able to stay in Chariton for care until the 3rd trimester (36 – 38 weeks.) Sharon will find the provider best fit for delivery and work closely with OB/GYN providers to customize the best care for you and your baby.

After birth, you can return to LCHC Medical Clinic for all your postnatal (after birth) care. Sharon will see you and your baby for weight checks, help with breastfeeding, and education about what to expect in the postpartum period including time for recovery, baby blues, postpartum depression, and birth control.

As part of a family practice medical clinic, our team of providers will care for your baby right here.

The “Share Care” model lets you skip the hours of driving and taking time off work for prenatal care appointments. We’ll help you enjoy your pregnancy with convenient, close-to-home appointments, ensure a smooth transition when it’s time to deliver, and provide personalized postnatal care to you and your baby.
