In an effort to improve communication between patients and providers, Lucas County Health Center is rolling out a new automatic appointment reminder system, Televox.
Televox launched on October 7th and integrates with LCHC’s electronic health record system. Patients can expect to get a phone call or text reminder from a LCHC phone number two days prior to a scheduled appointment. Patients can then confirm the appointment or request to cancel it by responding to the message. If the patient does not respond, a staff member will contact the patient.
“This new system will not only help us remind patients of their upcoming appointments but will reduce the number of no-shows and late cancellations,” said Amy McCurdy, Chief Clinical Officer. “This will allow others who need to be seen the opportunity to get in quicker for an appointment.”
Patients who use the Patient Portal can sign up for text message reminders by texting UPH to 622622. Patients will be able to opt-out of the text reminders should they wish and can choose the method of delivery for their reminder. Those without mobile phones will receive a call to their preferred number.
Currently, Televox is being used in LCHC’s Physical Therapy department and at LCHC Medical Clinic.
