In a few short weeks Counseling Services at Lucas County Health Center will hold their 12th Annual 5K Run/Walk. This event, Healthy Hearts Promoting Healthy Minds is designed to raise funds to help Counseling Services provide individual, group, and family therapy to those in need. Treatment is offered for mental health concerns, short-term reactions to stress and/or change, and addictive behaviors including, but not limited to drugs and alcohol. The LCHC counseling staff includes board certified adult and child psychiatrists, licensed therapists, and a psychiatric nurse practitioner.
The Healthy Hearts event will take place on Saturday, September 26. Registration is currently $15 for kids (ages 13 and under) and $20 for adults (ages 14 and over.) After September 4, the registration fee will increase to $20 for kids and $25 for adults. All ages are welcome.
“The Healthy Hearts Promoting Healthy Minds 5K is a great way to give back to the community and also helps your own health,” says Shannon Page, social worker at LCHC. “If you are just starting out or continuing with your training, the upcoming 5K Run/Walk can give you a motivational boost whether it’s just a goal to finish or you have a time or friend you would like to beat. Mark your calendar for September 21 and come enjoy the fun!”
The run begins at 9 a.m. with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. Following the race there will be awards, door prizes, and light refreshments. Medals will be awarded to the 1st-3rd place finishers, male and female, for each age division. Registration forms are available at lchcia.com, or by contacting Counseling Services at 641.774.3274.
