Lucas County Health Center (LCHC) is proud to announce the launch of a new Diabetes Support Group to provide education, encouragement, and community for individuals living with diabetes or prediabetes—as well as their families, friends, and anyone interested in prevention.
The first meeting will be held Thursday, September 18 at 5:00 PM in the LCHC Education Room. The group will be facilitated by Taylor Sorrells, Clinical Pharmacist, and Amanda Atwood, Care Coordination Nurse.
“Diabetes is a condition that affects many in our community, but it doesn’t have to be faced alone,” said Sorrells. “This group will be a safe, welcoming place to learn more about the disease, share experiences, and gain tools for better health.”
Each meeting will cover a variety of topics, including:
- Understanding diabetes and prediabetes
- Medications
- Diet and nutrition
- Blood glucose monitoring & continuous glucose monitors (CGMs)
- Exercise and lifestyle tips
- Guest speaker presentations
“Our goal is to connect people, answer questions, and help each other live healthier, fuller lives,” added Atwood.
The Diabetes Support Group is free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.lchcia.com or call (641) 774-3813.
