Van Allen Students Present Check to LCHC’s Comfort Fund

On November 12, Van Allen Principal Josh Morgan held a special assembly to present Lucas County Health Center’s Comfort Fund with a check for $260.25.

The Comfort Fund was established by Van Allen Elementary students in 2018 and is used to purchase items to help cancer patients at LCHC. Items purchased include adult coloring books, lip balm, comfy socks, gas cards, and more.

“It’s a wonderful thing that we have a school system that is teaching their students the importance of giving back to the community,” said Brian Sims, CEO at LCHC. “These funds truly help make a difference to our patients.”

Funds were raised through a pumpkin decorating contest held in October. Van Allen’s student council encouraged their student body to vote for the winner by placing change in the voting jars.
