Lucas County Health Center (LCHC) has launched its new electronic medical record (EMR) system. LCHC joins the other UnityPoint Health – Des Moines affiliates on the Epic EMR. This new system allows physicians to make better informed decisions based on information in hospital charts and private practice records, all of which are integrated into a single patient health record.
“Our patients continue to be our focus,” said Brian Sims, CEO. “This new EMR will allow our physicians to access important patient data and provide a better patient experience.”
The Epic EMR gives clinicians instant, secure access to information about a patient’s current and chronic medical conditions, medications, test results and allergies so physicians, nurses and other clinic staff can coordinate care more efficiently. Additionally, with the medical history, medications and treatment records all in one place, patients will have fewer forms to complete during appointments.
“I can’t say enough about our staff who have worked tirelessly to prepare for the EMR go live date,” said Lori Johnson, Chief Operating Officer. “Their teamwork has been phenomenal.”
LCHC is set to go live with Epic on November 5 and 6.
