LCHC Not Accepting Homemade Items

Lucas County Health Center would like to thank the community for their outpouring of support and offers to make hand-sewn masks or caps for staff members. Unfortunately, LCHC cannot accept them at this time.

According to Centers for Disease Control and Protection (CDC) guidelines, homemade masks are not considered proper personal protective equipment (PPE) since their capacity to protect is unknown.

Before sewing any masks, LCHC said people should wait until the Iowa Department of Public Health or CDC puts out specific guidelines that need to be followed.
