LCHC Issues Warning About Medicare-Related Scam

Lucas County Health Center (LCHC) is alerting the public to a potential scam involving calls to patients regarding a purported Medicare plastic card. It has come to our attention that scammers are making unsolicited calls, falsely claiming to be affiliated with LCHC and referencing the issuance of Medicare plastic cards.

These fraudulent calls often display Lucas County Health Center on the caller ID, creating a false sense of legitimacy. It is crucial for the community to be aware that Medicare will not make unsolicited calls regarding plastic cards, and any such communication should be treated with suspicion.

If you receive a call of this nature and suspect it is a scam, we strongly advise hanging up immediately. To verify the authenticity of the call, look up a direct and official contact number for Medicare or your healthcare provider. It is essential not to share personal information over the phone unless you have initiated the conversation and confirmed the identity of the caller.

LCHC is committed to the safety and well-being of our community members. If you have any questions or concerns about these scam calls or related issues, please don’t hesitate to contact LCHC’s Marketing Manager at (641) 774-3219 or jwiley@lchcia.com.
