LCHC Hosts March Man-ness to Give Men Healthy Excuse For Night Out

Before the nation’s best college basketball teams step onto the courts for March Madness, Lucas County Health Center (LCHC) is calling a timeout – to spotlight men’s health and to help men become better players at maintaining healthy lifestyles.

LCHC  will host March Man-ness Trivia Night on Tuesday, March 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the HyVee Market Grille located in the Hotel Charitone. The event consists of trivia covering topics such as men’s health, sports, entertainment, geography, and more. Dr. Kenneth Anderson will be our host for the evening. Teams consist of 4 individuals, ages 18+.

March Man-ness is a free event open to all men and women ages 18 and older. This event includes appetizers and chances to win prizes. Attendees will also have the option to order from the food and drink menu at their expense. Registration is required as space is limited. Only the first 10 teams will be accepted for this event. Each member of the winning team will receive a $25 Wells Fargo gift certificate, good for any event at Wells Fargo Arena.

Experts say men often avoid health checkups and sometimes fail to seek medical help until an illness is too far advanced. For example, according to the American Cancer Society, survival rates for prostate cancer is nearly 100% when diagnosed at an early stage. When diagnosed at a distant stage, when the cancer has spread to lymph nodes, bones or other organs, the rate drops to 28 percent.

“March Man-ness is all about creating a fun and comfortable atmosphere where men can kick back, relax and learn more about how they can take charge of their own health,” says Jena Wiley, Marketing Director. “It’s definitely not your average health fair.”
