Lucas County Health Center and Lucas County Public Health would like to warn Lucas County residents about a scam that has been spreading throughout southern Iowa recently.
The caller claims to be a public health representative and states the recipient is being contacted due to an exposure to Coronavirus. The caller then requests a fee for a COVID-19 test kit.
Public health will never ask for financial information over the phone when calling about contact tracing of individuals who have been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19. If public health does call you, it will be because you have been named a person who has been exposed to an individual who has a confirmed case of COVID-19. Public health will never ask for any financial information.
