“Great Iowa Nurses” includes two from Lucas County Health Center

Lucas County Health Center nurses Carla Rouw and Jen Fehrer were named to the Iowa Nurses Foundation’s “100 Great Iowa Nurses.”

This award seeks to recognize nurses whose courage, competence, and commitment to patients and the nursing profession stand out above all others. Hundreds of nominations from around the state were evaluated and final selections were made by the Iowa Hospital Association, the Iowa Nurses Foundation, and the Iowa Nurses Association.

“We are extremely proud of the nurses honored this year,” said JoBeth Lawless, Chief Nursing Officer. “The fact that they were recognized not only at a local level, but also by respected hospital and nursing organizations truly demonstrates their expertise and passion.”

Fehrer and Rouw were honored on May 3 – the beginning of Nurses Week – at the 11th annual celebration in Des Moines.
