Birth Control – Not Just For Birth Control!

Written by Sharon Squibb, MS, CNM, ARNP, NCMP

There is something that I’d like to tell you – birth control is not JUST for birth control!

Of course, pregnancy prevention is the number one reason for using birth control, but there are so many more reasons to think about. Reducing cramps or menstrual pain, regulating or eliminating menstrual bleeding, treatment of acne or endometriosis just to name a few.

Menstrual-related disorders and irregular periods are particularly common during adolescence. In fact, most young women have bothersome symptoms associated with their periods. Birth control can be one way to provide relief.

And you do not need to be having sex to use birth control.

Sometimes, it can help to talk to a professional about the ways your body changes in adolescence.

Come talk with Sharon Squibb, MS, CNM, ARNP, MSCP about this important transition and the journey through to the other side.
