MRI Project

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why is an MRI important for our community?
An MRI provides detailed images of the body’s organs, tissues, and other structures to help providers diagnose and evaluate various medical conditions. Bringing MRI services to LCHC will give patients greater access to diagnostic imaging, reducing the need to travel to other communities for care.

Will I still be able to get other radiology services during construction?
Yes, our ardiology department will remain open during construction. Our new MRI suite will be built in the space where Radiology will eventually be located as part of the larger Facility Master Plan. Rather than installing the MRI and moving it again later, we’re building it into Radiology’s new home from the start.

During the major renovations, Radiology services will temporarily be spread across different areas of the facility. Once construction is complete and Radiology moves to it’s new space, these services will be together again in one location. We’ll keep the community informed as the project progresses.

Where will the MRI suite be located?
The new MRI suite will be built in the area currently occupied by our Board Room. To accommodate the MRI’s size and specialized requirements, we’ll also need to renovate our Atrium.

This means the Atrium may look a little different for awhile! As construction gets underway, you can expect some temporary disruptions as walls and hallways are modified to make room for the new suite. We appreciate your patience as we make these improvements to bring advanced imaging closer to home.

Will I need a referral for an MRI??
MRI exams typically require an order from a healthcare provider. If you think you may need an MRI, talk with your provider about yoru symptoms and whether imaging is appropriate. Our team can help answer questions about accessing MRI services as more details become available.
