RN – ER/Float (PRN)

Emergency Department

Days and Shifts:
  • PRN Position
  • Works varied days and shifts
  • 6 AM – 6 PM or 6 PM – 6 AM
  • Orientation of 10 shifts required in first 6 weeks
Description:
  • Assist in ER and Med/Surg during busy times
  • Assist with task-oriented nursing care as needed (i.e. IV starts, etc.)
  • Enable floor nursing staff to do morning rounds with physicians
  • Cover for breaks in nursing departments
  • Chart audits; Admitting and discharging patients
  • Assist with “now” orders in any of the above-named departments
  • Night Float-check charts in health information for deficient charting; Admit clients into EPIC.
  • Assist with 2nd unit ambulance with transfers
  • Relates effectively with other shifts for continuity of care
  • Maintains satisfactory relations with other departments
  • Participates in all phases of education, maintenance of records, and upgrading policies, procedures, and skills
Requirements
Educational/Experience:
  • 1 year RN Acute Care Experience Required
  • Current Iowa licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • Mandatory Abuse Reporter Certification within 6 months of employment
  • ACLS certification
  • NRP certification
  • TNCC certification
  • PALS certification
  • Healthcare Provider BLS certification
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well
