Dr. Thompson grew up in St. Charles, Iowa and attended Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree. He then transferred to Des Moines University where he completed his doctorate.

Dr. Thompson’s training continued at Broadlawns Medical Center where he completes his internship before moving to Mercy Hospital for a General Surgery Residency. He also completed a 12 month fellowship in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. Dr. Thompson is Board Certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery.

Dr. Thompson is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and a Fellow of the Federation of State Medical Boards. He has a passion for teaching and began working as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Specialty Medicine at Des Moines University in 2016.

In his spare time, Dr. Thompson enjoys restoring antique cars and motorcycles. He and his wife Ann are looking forward to calling Chariton home.
