A diagnosis of diabetes is made when the body does not produce or properly use insulin. There is no cure for diabetes yet, but it can be controlled through diet, exercise, and/or medication. Proper diabetes control is the best way to prevent further related health complications.
Diabetes Education offers important information to improve health and quality of life for those with diabetes. Individuals and their loved ones learn to manage the disease and decrease the risk of long-term complications.
LCHC’s Certified Diabetes Self-Management Education requires a referral from your healthcare provider. There is a charge for individual sessions, but most insurance programs, including Medicare and Medicaid, cover diabetes self-management training and nutrition counseling. We encourage you to contact your insurance provider to find out if you are covered.
